19世紀後半から20世紀初頭にかけて、ヨーロッパやアメリカで日本ブームが巻き起こりました。
特に日本の浮世絵などの美術工芸品は、印象派、ナビ派、アール・ヌーヴォーの多くの芸術家・デザイナーに大きな影響を与え、ジャポニスムと呼ばれています。
本展示・即売会では世紀末のパリでジャポニスムを信奉する芸術家や文学者が集った「キャバレー・ル・シャ・ノワール」の出版物に焦点をあて、世紀末パリの芸術キャバレーの出版活動とジャポニスムの芸術家たちの活動を振り返ります。
